A VERY BRADY SEQUEL

I laughed at the first film. The unintelligible Cindy Brady was a riot in the scene with the banana peel, for instance. And the demented Jan sequences were also good. And the movie was short enough that the endless send-ups didn't have time to get on your nerves. I guess they were the reason I watched the movie in the first place, as a matter of fact.

Kinda cute and somewhat clever is how I would have described the first film. Making fun, through parody, of a something that could have taken itself slightly seriously. Kinda cute enough that I agreed to rent the sequel.

Big mistake.

There are a couple of laughs in this film. But that's all. Everything that made the first one kinda fresh has been rehashed for this film, making it kinda stale. The TV show had mostly new problems facing the Brady bunch every week. This movie isn't so original. The only new element is the plot, which is actually a minor element in this show. And the plot only manages to detract further from a film that has little in the way of positives to spare.

The plot introduces a modern character into the midst of the Brady family, and his constant "These people are weird" expressions get very, very old after about three and a half minutes. We know they are.

He should have been looking at the writers.
