Factoid: More than 50% of girls feel depressed at least once a week. The top causes are school struggles, parental pressures, and boyfriend/friend squabbles.

Finals are coming up and the pressure is on to perform. Try some of these stress remedies to help make the brain-pain go away…
- Take a break. If the weather's permitting, go out and take a stroll. This will help clear your head and get you energized for the next little stretch. At the least, get up and do something else for at lest five minutes.
- When you start to feel stressed, stop and slow down. Getting more stressed about a test or a paper won't help you get it done any better.
- Make sure you get plenty of sleep. Plenty of sleep is not defined as five hours. For the average college student, you should be getting around seven to eight hours of good sleep a night. When your head and body are rested, you just feel better and can accomplish more.
- Exercise. Not only your head, but your body as well. An increase in physical activity will not only keep that infamous freshmen fifteen at bay but will up your energy level.
- If your feel really stressed about a class or project, talk about it. Preferably to your teacher, but if you don't think you can approach them, then talk you a friend. Just venting how you feel will make you feel better, plus that person might just give you some advice to help you feel less stressed and more in control.
- Think positive. The more you focus on the things that aren't getting done right or that need to be done but you don't have any time, those sorts of things just start to pile up. Focus on what your doing right and don't sweat the small stuff.
By feeling better about the situation, by taking control, you'll soon find you have better coping skills to deal with life's pressures, are more self-confident, are more active in life instead of feeling overwhelmed by it, and you'll have better relationships with people, including yourself. Now that you're in control of your stress, take a deep breath and try not to think about the fact that you'll have to do this again next semester.
