Gas Prices

Before you complain too much about gas prices... realize we have the cheapest gas in all the world. In Europe and Asia they pay like $2.50 a gallon (they use liters which is less than a gallon.) And people wonder why there are so many small cars abroad. Also realize that those few cents you're trying to save might not be worth it. So it's five cents (let's be outrageous!) more expensive across the street... you fill up twenty gallons, wow you just saved a buck!

It used to be that California had more expensive gas than Nevada. Well, now it's about the same. As a trend Carson city seems to have better gas prices. (I have friends who commute to school and fill up in Carson because of this.)

They did an expose on 20/20 about gas stations using fillers and rigged meters to rip customers off... well, I don't know how you catch these guys, but maybe that's how some justify selling gas 20 cents higher than the guy whose across the street.

Cheapest Gas in Reno:

  • The Costco Gas Station on Harvard
They are always cheaper by 2-5 cents than anyone in town. Catch is you have to be a member.
  • Otherwise Winner's Corners seem to be the cheapest. The closest ones are on Seventh and Keystone... (Find 'em everywhere priced about the same.)
