| The Jones Visitor Center has gone through many changes since it was
originally built in 1914 as the Univesity of Nevada Library (UNR's first
official library). It later became the Journalism Building. In 1983 it
was rededicated as the Visitor Center.
The Jones Visitor Center is named after Clarence K. and Martha H.
Jones. The Jones provided an endowment that preseved the building.
Clarence was an investment counselor, a Reno newspaper executive, and
named a Distinguished Nevadan in 1977. Martha, the former Martha Washington
Hansen, received the President's Medal in 1985.
The Jones Visitor Center is currently home to the offices of
Prospective Students, Judicial Affairs, Student Life, the Silver and Blue
magazine, and the Transfer Center. The lobby's walls are covered with
many really cool pictures taken from throughout the university's history.
